Babysitter Agreement
1. Who this applies to #
This agreement applies to anyone who offers or provides care through Gated Sitting, including a parent in one household who also sits for another. It sits alongside our Terms of Service (https://gatedsitting.com/terms) and Community Standards (https://gatedsitting.com/community-standards).
2. Represent yourself accurately #
Describe your experience, age, training, and any certifications truthfully, and keep your profile current. Do not claim a certification you do not hold. Families rely on what your profile says when they trust you with their children.
3. Accept only work you can responsibly perform #
Take on a night only if you can arrive on time, stay for the whole booking, and care for the number and ages of children involved. If you are not comfortable with an arrangement, decline it — declining is always the right call over accepting and hoping.
4. While you are caring for children #
- Follow the family’s instructions, including bedtimes, food, screen time, and medication.
- Stay present and attentive. Do not leave children unattended.
- Do not bring additional guests, and do not transport children in a vehicle, without the family’s explicit permission.
- Never be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while responsible for children.
- In an emergency, contact local emergency services first, then the family.
5. Confidentiality #
What you learn about a family — their schedule, their home, their access codes, and their children — stays private. Do not share it, and do not post photos or video of a family’s children anywhere without that family’s explicit permission.
6. Reliability and communication #
Reply promptly to the families you have arrangements with, and tell them as early as you can if something changes. If you must cancel a confirmed night, contact the family directly rather than only withdrawing in the app. Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may be treated as a Community Standards issue.
7. You are independent #
You are not employed by Gated Sitting. You decide which work to accept, and you are responsible for your own taxes and for any registration or insurance your situation requires. The platform does not withhold taxes, provide workers’ compensation, or supervise the care you provide.
8. Getting paid #
Pay is agreed between you and the family. Where a family pays by card through the service, funds are processed by our payment provider and sent to the connected account you set up; other methods are settled directly with the family. If a family does not pay an agreed rate, open a support ticket — but the platform is not a party to your arrangement and cannot guarantee payment.
9. Messages and texts #
Families reach you through in-app messages. Text messages are optional and only sent if you turn them on; you can stop them at any time by replying STOP or turning them off in your profile. See our Privacy Policy at https://gatedsitting.com/privacy#sms.
10. Changes to this agreement #
We may update this agreement by publishing a new version with a new version date. Material updates require acceptance before continuing to use the service.
